Introducing the new Ninebot by Segway miniPRO
New from Segway Inc., the Ninebot by Segway miniPRO is an advanced "compact electric personal transporter" which – unlike the typical hoverboard – meets Segway's technology, quality and safety standards.
A Hybrid Hoverboard / Personal Transporter
The new Segway miniPRO is best described as a hybrid between the sophisticated Segway® Personal Transporter and the pervasive hoverboard. While the typical hoverboard lacks the Segway PT's arm-height handlebar, the Segway miniPRO sports a knee-height control bar providing more stability and control than a bare platform.

Segway Quality and Rider Safety
The Ninebot by Segway miniPRO is built with a level of quality and safety expected of the Segway PT – but not typical of a hoverboard. For example, the miniPRO is UL Certified, providing the consumer assurances of electrical and fire safety – a feature obviously lacking in many cheap self-balancing scooters.
Xiaomi Ninebot Mini
Some are wondering if the Ninebot by Segway miniPRO is simply a rebranded version of the Xiaomi Ninebot Mini. While the new Segway miniPRO is a result of the merger between Ninebot Limited and Segway Inc., it also reflects a merging of the two company's technologies. Some of the key differences are highlighted here:

Segway Tours on the miniPRO
The Segway PT has become the standard among tour operators for many reasons – including the safety, ruggedness, and ease-of-use it offers. While sharing many of these qualities, the Segway miniPRO is not quite as simple to use for an absolute beginner.
Though much easier to ride than a pure hoverboard, the miniPRO may not be as attractive as the Segway PT to tour operators for this reason – along with its lower rider weight capacity of 220 pounds. But just as happened with the Segway PT, the touring public will decide. If a market evolves for tours using the Segway miniPRO, you will find the tours listed here on Segway Guided Tours!
